IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not an IT-type job, but more akin to those who have commercial project management experience.
The purpose of this position is to provide space planning, data mining/analysis, reporting and interpretation of space planning metrics in an effort to provide recommendations and proposed solutions for a client's occupancy needs.
Organizing Data Center Specific Information
Create updated worksheets to better track available and used cooling capacity at each site, based on current operating set-points and electric loads.
Provide CAD drawing assistance to update existing floor plans of portfolio of sites. This will also assist the BU to identify existing open areas that can be sold in the data center.
Investigate the role of DCIM software and how it will help the synergy between various teams within the company.
Managing the implementation, functionality, integration and reporting
Creating custom applications for reporting purposes
Work with CAD operator
Provide support to verify and review as-built documentation
Provide support to maintain CAD library
Review data center drawings and provide redlines
Work with D&E and Operations to create updated and accurate site equipment inventories.
Compile binder that includes equipment cuts at each site, along with performance cuts, T&B reports and single line diagrams.
Creating standard operating procedures for air flow assessments that can be used for all sites at fixed intervals.
Developing infrastructure to streamline airflow assessments.
Provide any technical support required to resolve any site issues.
Simulate various scenarios on completed CFD models to anticipate challenges and formulate solutions.
Use CFD models to explore/validate Energy improvement initiatives (Refer #1)
Improving Data Center Efficiencies
Analyze complex Data Center Mechanical, Electrical and Controls systems to identify opportunities to save energy. Put together business reports that outline opportunities for savings and Return on Investment estimates.
Help establish and deploy a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) monitoring platform across all Data Centers. Work to tailor weekly reports for various executive teams.
Help establish airflow management baselines within the Data Centers and work with Operations to identify low cost ways to improve air management. Build theoretical business cases for each site.
Controls & Building Management System (BMS)
Assist D&E and Operations to finalize a BMS specification for the local level, and work to deploy/execute Tridium at the Global level.
Provide support for other projects that require control system knowledge.
Identify new data center cooling solutions (e.g. Liquid Cooling Systems) to increase efficiency
Develop necessary proof of concept
Any other research or exploratory projects
Travel as required.
Undergraduate engineering degree or better with 2-5 years of critical environment related experience.
In-depth understanding of the following technologies: Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Revit
Ability to leverage understanding of scientific methods to research and implement new data center solutions.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team
Familiar with building control systems and Data Center Infrastructure
Management (DCIM) concepts.
Minimum three years experience directly related to the delivery of strategic planning services; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
AutoCAD drawing experience is required. CAFM software experience is preferred.
Professional Registration in Architecture or Interior Design preferred.
Certification in Corporate Real Estate, LEED or Facilities Management preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers.
Ability to effectively present information.
Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles.
Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions.

Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, desktop publishing and CAD/CAFM software including MS Office Suite (MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel & Visio).
Familiar with system furniture design and modular furniture while demonstrating knowledge and adherence to building regulations and health & safety guidelines.
Ability to provide efficient, timely and reliable service to client(s).
