VMware Staff Technical Partner Manager in Palo Alto, California
The Staff Technical Partner Manager will take responsibility for fostering and advancing engineering relationships with the partner. In particular, the partner manager will provide leadership on establishing priorities, orchestrating effective communication and collaboration, and achieving success on joint initiatives.
To be effective, the Partner Manager will need to develop deeper knowledge of the partner's hardware products, technologies, and strategic initiatives, and the role will need to maintain information on key engineering team contacts and leaders.
This role involves Cross-Business Unit orchestration so the Partner Manager should have a broad understanding of VMware's product portfolio in order to drive communication and collaboration on engineering topics between BUs and partners. The role both partner-facing and responsible for engaging the appropriate VMware BU teams and leaders and ensuring potentially impactful partner-related issues and opportunities get sufficient visibility and attention within the product BUs.
The Staff Technical Partner Manager function will include the following responsibilities:
Provide leadership and prioritization of joint work streams and discussions between the BU and partners including roadmap alignment across
Collaborate with BU specialists to drive and track progress of BU/partner engineering activities
Own regular roadmap exchanges including QTR's and update and technical deep dive meetings, including an active role in constructing agendas based on established priorities
Coordinate with other BUs as needed to proper ownership of workstreams
Drive and track collaboration between the partner and BU owners on the resolution of engineering escalations
Establish and develop consistent processes with internal stakeholders and partners to deliver optimized and excellence service
Strong technical knowledge of Virtualization in Compute; Storage and Network
Strong technical knowledge in the Server OEM domain
Working experience with VMware virtualization technologies in Software Defined Data Center and End User Computing
Have ability to acquire new technology concepts quickly
Very strong program and project management skills
Deals well with ambiguity
Strong partner relationship skills and ability to communicate across a matrix organization internally and externally
Leads with confidence and independently
Ability to strategize direction and drive discussions with groups outside of immediate influence or control
Strong communication; interpersonal and cross-functional collaborative skills Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required in Computer Science or equivalent. MS/MBA preferred
10+ years in Technical program/product/partner/customer management experience
PMP/PMI certification or equivalent
ITIL Foundation Certificate preferred
