Olympus America Inc. Associate Estimation Technician in San Jose, California
San Jose, CA - The Associate Estimation Technician must understand and accept the responsibility to ensure the safety of all Olympus products that are repaired, by following established processes and procedures. Under the direction of a Lead Estimation Technician Production Supervisor, the incumbent will be required to successfully complete technical training with the goal of performing functions related to the diagnostic evaluation of endoscopes for repair and service. Following the completion of such training and before moving to the Estimation Technician position, he/she must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform a complete objective evaluation of the as received condition, to include disassembly and troubleshooting of performance characteristics. Through observation and disassembly the incumbent must be able to diagnose all components and systems on the endoscope and recommend appropriate repairs to the endoscope to satisfy the user request for service, address all characteristics that would compromise safety, and return the instrument to a fully functioning state. He/She must be able to maintain an acceptable level of productivity and quality. The incumbent must accomplish these objectives while maintaining a clean, well organized work environment. He/She will be expected to maintain acceptable standards for attendance and punctuality, and work overtime as needed. EOE Minorities/Females/Veterans/Disabled
Participate in a formal training program (Not to Exceed Estimation training) and receive verification in all of the required modules.
Spend time in the Estimation Department, applying knowledge of the training received to assist in meeting daily departmental production targets while participating in the training program.
Use a variety of hand and electronic tools to diagnose and evaluate endoscopes for repair and service.
Complete and maintain accurate service records both electronically and manually.
Ensure safe work practices are employed by observing guidelines established or enforced by the Company.
Support business needs by working in other areas as assigned.
Participate in the quality systems, quality improvement and 5S programs as directed by the Lead Estimation Technician Production Supervisor.
Maintain confidentiality of documents and processes.
Perform all other essential duties as assigned.
(ONLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL BE CONSIDERED)
High school diploma required.
Minimum of 1 year of direct endoscope assembly, disassembly, repair, or estimation experience and demonstrated skill in endoscope disassembly assembly repair inspection estimation or equivalent in precision repair activity while maintaining productivity, quality and attendance standards is required; or a minimum of 2 years of electromechanical experience with an emphasis on diagnosing or troubleshooting is required.
Manual dexterity with small hand tools (such as screwdrivers, electric screwdrivers, pliers, tweezers) is required.
Experience or ability to work with microscopes, test equipment (such as light sources, video processors, megohm testers) and hand soldering where applicable is necessary.
Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) are essential.
Ability to read and follow manuals, work instructions, job standards and related information is necessary.
*Basic computer skills (including keyboard and mouse skills) are necessary.
