SunPower is seeking a Director of Internal Audit, reporting to the CFO. The position will be responsible for executing the Company’s internal audit charter by leading the internal audit organization, driving the worldwide internal audit strategy, executing specific audits, and driving SOX 404 and 302 compliance.
The Director must be highly ethical and possess a solid understanding of generally accepted auditing standards, U.S. GAAP accounting principles and have excellent project management skills, especially with large numbers of team members on a global basis. The Director must also have strong global people/communication skills to be able to work collaboratively across various departments, regions, and cultures.
Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct operational, compliance, and risk-based internal audits
Conduct periodic risk assessments
Develop and implement an annual audit plan
Implement SOX404 compliance program
Lead and develop a team of high quality internal auditors globally
Manage external consulting resources as required
Coordinate audit testing with external auditors
Help develop fraud prevention and detection controls
Develop a corporate consciousness about the importance of internal controls by educating employees
Communicate with and report to the Audit Committee and company senior management;
Report findings, identify opportunities to improve operations, and enhance business processes
Work with the CFO, CEO, Audit Committee and Legal Department as appropriate on special projects/investigations
Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of people management experience
Advanced degree preferred
OR equivalent combination of education and years of related experience
BA or BS degree in accounting, economics or finance
Plus - Advanced degrees such as an MBA, and/or certifications such as CPA, CIA, or CISA
10 or more years of relevant work experience – audit and SOX;
Outstanding interpersonal and analytical skills
Knowledge and ability to use and evaluate technology
ERM experience a plus
Board Level Acumen, Reports to the Audit Committee
Positive attitude and willing to take initiative with cross-functional organizations to get things done
Energetic self-starter with proven experience to multi-task in a constantly changing environment
Detailed oriented and organized
Strong oral and written communication skills
Proven ability to work successfully under tight deadlines
Team player with willingness to tactfully disagree when appropriate
Interest in renewable energy industry a plus
