IBM Research Staff Member- Storage in SAN JOSE, California

The Storage Systems Research group at IBM's Almaden Research Center is looking for systems researchers and software engineers to develop new technologies at the frontier of storage software. The emergence of Software Defined Storage and new storage technologies is opening many new areas for exploratory research. We work on high velocity data, extreme scale storage and globally distribution in the areas of cloud services, analytics, healthcare, finance, cognitive systems and more. The work will involve system design and development, algorithm development, performance analysis and modeling. Results should be published in leading storage conferences as well as delivered to IBM's patent portfolio. Collaboration is critical as we work with product teams within IBM as well as with top universities, open-source communities and standard committees.Almaden researchers have pioneered storage from the invention of the hard drive to more recently storing a bit of information in 12 atom. The World is Our Laboratory: IBM researchers push the boundaries of science, technology and business to the make the world better. The IBM Storage Systems Research group is well-known for its pioneering research in the areas of RAID, parallel file systems and enterprise backup and restore. We have also contributed to major storage industry products, such as IBM® RAMAC®, IBM 9337 RAID subsystem, Tivoli® Storage Manager, Tivoli Storage Productivity Center (TPC), General Parallel File System (GPFS) and many of the products in the IBM® System Storage® product line (DS8000, SAN Volume Controller, Storwize V7000, SONAS, XIV, Tape Systems). The World is Our Laboratory: No matter where discovery takes place, IBM researchers push the boundaries of science, technology and business to make the world work better. IBM Research is a global community of forward-thinkers working towards a common goal: progress.
