PayPal is looking for a Senior Manager to lead the engineering team responsible for our merchant portal – the place where business owners come in to visualize and operate their PayPal accounts and products. You will be leading the development team responsible to help millions of merchants worldwide to better connect with, run and grow their businesses with the help of PayPal’s offerings.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in hiring, building and retaining top talent, establishing scalable and sustainable architecture, collaborate on the strategy & roadmap by working closely with the product, design and PMO organizations, besides technical prowess and demonstrated experience building web applications.
Hiring, developing & retaining top talent and be responsible for the overall team structure.
Work with product and design organizations in defining product roadmap.
Provide thought leadership to the broad org around web development.
Manage competing priorities.
Guide decisions on architecture and technical strategy.
Bring predictability to the team’s overall performance and delivery.
Coaching and mentoring individual contributors.
Create & enhance development processes to ensure the quality of products and code.
Responsible for establishing and enhancing the engineering discipline of the team.
Keep up to date on industry trends and technologies and apply them quickly to our products.
Demonstrable experience managing software development teams.
7+ years of development experience.
Passion for easily readable code, quality and automation.
Demonstrated ability to hire, develop and retain top mobile talent.
Experience building high volume customer facing applications at scale.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Fluent in good architecture design.
Firm grasp of fundamental data structures and algorithms.
- BS Computer Science or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
