The candiate will develop electronics with leading edge performance for RUAG Space digital payload products to be used in next generation telecommunication payloads for satellites.
Understand and drive electronics requirements and their applicability to digital payload functions
Apply the latest commercial technology to enable new customer mission requirements uniquely achievable by RUAG’s digital payload architecture
Optimize electronics implementations to efficiently operate on space flight hardware using minimal resources
Lead a multi-disciplinary design team to ensure digital payload electronics are correctly implemented
Interface with software, gateware, and test teams to ensure end-to-end product functionality
Support execution of spiral development, integration, and capability demonstrations to increase customer visibility and confidence
Deliver on R&D commitments under tight schedule and budget constraints
Support new business and proposal activities with competitive digital payload products
Education & Experience
BS degree in Electrical Engineering (MS degree preferred)
10+ years experience in digital electronics development at leading edge performance
Comprehensive knowledge of high speed development tools and practices for multi-GHz/Gbps digital electronics
Comfortable working a flexible schedule in a small, high performance team to achieve aggressive, quick-turn demonstrations
Strong experience and hands-on lab integration and demonstration skills
Hands-on experience with electronics design including Xilinx UltraScale+ or other recent high performance FPGAs
Hands-on experience with 10 and 25 Gbps SERDES development including end-to-end connectivity through PCBs, connectors, and cables
Working knowledge of the space environment and its effects and mitigations in electronics
Hands-on experience with high performance electronics in space or other rugged environment
