Oracle Consulting Technical Manager in Sunnyvale, California

As a recognized authority and leading contributor within their practice, this senior-level consulting position provides consistent high quality and innovative solution leadership to a project team. Leads the solution design and implementation aspects of engagement(s) ensuring high quality, integrated software solutions within constraints of time and budget.

Analyzes business needs to help ensure Oracle solution meets the customer s objectives by combining industry best practices, product knowledge, and business acumen. Exercises judgment and business acumen in selecting methods and techniques to deliver functional and technical solutions on non-routine and very complex aspects of applications and technology installations. Provides direction and mentoring to project teams, and effectively influences customer leadership on key decisions. Supports the business development efforts by pursuing new opportunities and extensions. Collaborates with the consulting sales team by providing domain expertise. Resolves complex customer issues by recommending and implementing solutions. Demonstrates expertise in multiple business processes across two or more product families or ability to architect and design technology solutions encompassing multiple products and make decisions based on impact across the stack.

8-10 years of experience relevant to this position including 4 years of consulting experience. Prior team leadership or management experience preferred. Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience preferred. Product or technical expertise relevant to practice focus. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to build rapport with team members and clients. Strong influencing and negotiation skills. Ability to travel as needed.

Brief Posting Description

Within Oracle Consulting, the Oracle on Oracle practice provides architecture services to ensure successful implementation of customer solutions involving the Oracle product stack. Architects and Administrators are responsible for defining the architecture for overall customer solutions and database administration services to configure and maintain large Oracle environments, including the Oracle eBusiness Suite application and PeopleSoft applications and Siebel. Services include capacity planning, installations, upgrades and designing solutions to meet high availability requirements for clients on Engineered Systems and Oracle Cloud implementations.

Job Requirements

Job duties are varied and complex requiring independent judgment. May have project lead role or solo role. A BS or BA in related fields or equal experience. Minimum 10 years overall experience in a technical role as a DBA Oracle Applications Unlimited: Peoplesoft Applications, EBbusiness Suite or Siebel Applications. Four years experience in multi-dimensional issue resolution with Oracle database and/or Oracle middleware technology. Ability to lead a team and communicate effectively both verbal and written. Ability to build rapport with team members and clients. Required to travel regionally with some national travel.

Additional Details

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Implementing solutions to meet client s performance and HA requirements

Administrating software and tools in accordance with the clients requirements

Administrating and installing PeopleSoft Applications and PeopleTools

Conducting performance and HA testing to ensure client SLAs are met

Evaluating, monitoring and managing the client s database, application server and application performance

Working to ensure that server and application security and integrity are maintained

Developing and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of practice area specific Oracle products and services

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Perform server/application audits and health checks

Administer database, application server and application environments

Tune the database, application server and application to ensure optimum use of resources

Institute operational procedures to ensure the client s operating environment is monitored to help meet SLAs

Ensure the database architecture is able to meet the client s ongoing needs

Proactively maintain knowledge of Oracle s current and future products/ solutions offerings for the specialist practice area

Generate the relevant material, e.g. white papers, in order to develop and share knowledge

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

6 years experience of Oracle Database technology DBA with Infrastructure experience.

6-years experience with Oracle Applications Unlimited - Oracle PeopleSoft DBA, EBusiness Suite, Siebel or JD Edwards, including System Administration and Architecture and Cloud Infrastructure deployment and admisitration.

Architecture knowledge, good understanding of technology stack preferable

Must have experience of three or more of the following; RAC, Data Guard, Exadata, Exalogic, Cloud Infrastructure, Oracle Database, Linux Operating System, Virtual Machines and Networking.

Server and application sizing and capacity planning

Server and application tuning for performance and scalability

Performance testing experience desirable

Understanding of high availability and disaster recovery requirements and solutions

Server consolidation

Advanced security (Virtual Private Database, Labels etc)

Networking, business intelligence

Database and application server internals
