VMware Staff Engineer - Compliance Infrastructure Automation in Palo Alto, California

VMware Cloud on AWS R&D is responsible for building and operating the service. As part of this team, you will:

  • Participate through all phases of the service development lifecycle, based on an agile scrum development methodology.

  • Participate in the SaaS operations based on a devops model.

The Compliance R&D team drives development of infrastructure needed for VMware Cloud on AWS to satisfy compliance programs such as ISO 27001, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), FedRAMP etc. As the staff automation engineer, you will be responsible for automation of the CI/CD pipeline and deployment of SaaS infrastructure to meet compliance requirements.


  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent required

  • 8 years of industry software development experience with enterprise software and/or Software as a Service at scale.

  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages: Python, Perl, etc.

  • Experience with automation test frameworks such as TestNG

  • Experience with automation tools such as Jenkins, Terraform or AWS CloudFormation

  • Experience with automating CI/CD pipeline

  • Experience delivering and operating cloud services with agile development process

  • Experience with FedRAMP compliance work

  • Background in distributed systems and cloud management is considered a plus

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent teamwork skills
