*POSITION SUMMARY: * The primary focus of this role is to provide general administrative and clerical support to the assigned unit(s). As a member of the patient care team, this job is responsible for chart management, data collection, supplies and equipment management, and departmental communication. Promotes a cooperative working relationship with care team members, physicians, other disciplines and the public by facilitating and enhancing communication, displaying honesty and respect, displaying sensitivity to social, cultural and age differences, and expressing and accepting feedback in a professional manner. Supports the mission, philosophy and goals of Good Samaritan Hospital.
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. Ability to transcribe orders, comprehend and communicate complicated verbal and written instructions. Perform basic arithmetic calculations for ordering and charging supplies
Previous experience with computerized ordering and documentation.
Knowledge of office routines.
Ability to answer questions, obtain information from various sources and to solve non-complex issues.
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with co-workers, patients, families and medical staff.
Ability to utilize computerized patient care management system. Knowledge of basic computer skills preferred.
Work is performed in accordance with established procedures, however employee must organize work and adapt to rapidly changing tasks and priorities.
Must maintain confidentiality and privacy according to hospital policy.
