Kelly Services Facilities/Maintenance Engineering Technician in San Jose, California

Current Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain neat and safe work environment; organize storage rooms, conference rooms and dining areas

• Respond to daily Facilities ticket requests

• New hire set up; adjust furniture and ensure office space is clean

• Term cleanup; reset furniture and pack misc. items left behind

• Assist with emergencies such as spills, leaks, loss of power and medical emergencies

• Responsible for All Hands set up; remove furniture and direct rental chair set up and tear down

• Assembly and or repair of equipment storage racks, carts, lab benches, outdoor patio furniture

• Assist in light construction including; hanging white boards, plaques, pictures, and small wall repairs and painting

• Escort vendors for repairs and/or repairs of equipment

• Assist with minor repairs including; door locks and handle adjustments, door speed and panic bar adjustments

• Daily inspections of conference rooms and training rooms; rest and clean as necessary

• Assist Marketing with shipping and receiving of heavy and fragile equipment

• Maintain neatness of Engineering and Manufacturing labs; take equipment to offsite storage

• Provide backup to day porter in emergencies

• Maintain clean/organized locker rooms and gym equipment

• Collect and prepare e-waste for pickup

• Restock office supplies in cabinets weekly

• Light plumbing repairs such as flush valve replacement

• Able to adjust HVAC unit set points, disable/enable unit status from human interface as directed by S. Facilities Engineer

Job Skills Required

• Familiar with electrical circuits; able to trouble shoot faults when necessary and can handle basic circuit resets and evaluate for circuit for safety

• Auto-CAD skills: basic use for space planning, independently produce a scale drawing, commercial building or lab layout and can plot to .pdf and email files

• Johnson Controls (Facility Explorer FX70) or equivalent HVAC Control system experience

• Watt-Stopper DLM or similar digital light management experience, able to read product manuals and figure things out independently

• Emergency Power Experience: GenSet & UPS - candidate should have some familiarity with this type of environment

• Plumbing - Basic understanding and able to make minor repairs like troubleshooting automatic faucet sensors without direction

• Familiar with Electrical Safe practices, comfortable working in a lab rich environment

• Fire Life Safety System - Basic understanding of these systems would be helpful

• Herman Miller furniture installation and reconfigurations

• Excellent computer, phone and email skills. Can independently make spreadsheets/move

matrix/load test tables/etc.

• Strong mechanical aptitude

• Discretion in handling confidential material

• Ability to schedule workload, set priorities and manage time in order to complete assignments and fulfill responsibilities;

• Valid Driver’s License


• High School diploma and Certifications

• Minimum 4-7 years of related experience

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, climb ladders, crawl in/through low spaces without difficulty

• Comfortable with outside work on building roofs during hot and cold weather

• Hand and Finger Dexterity

• Ability to lift and move heavy equipment safely, using appropriate tools when necessary

• Able to lift 50 lbs.
