Cisco is looking for a project manager for our Cisco Webex developer program. The ideal candidate is a hyper organized personality. You love to make a list for everything and nothing gets done that’s not on the list. You have trouble sleeping at night if things are left undone. And you don’t mind speaking up when things start running off the rails.

You’re a passionate, resourceful problem solver. When presented with a problem, your first instinct is to try and fix it yourself, and you enjoy having the autonomy and support that allows that to happen.

As part of the developer relations team, you’ll be involved in planning and executing developer events that we run or participate in. This might include creating a schedule for booth staffing, planning our demos, and coordinating team dinners and schedules while at the event. We’ll depend on you for operational and logistics support of all our events. Things like ordering and shipping swag, booth materials, demo equipment, and staff shirts and managing the inventory of all these items and ensuring their safe return and replacement as needed.

You’ll work with Webex sales to help manage our Ambassador program, ensuring new ambassadors receive their welcome kits, are listed in the directory, and organizing social activities for the Ambassadors. You’ll work with our invite-only tier of expert Ambassadors, the Ambassador Masters, advocating for their participation in our events and providing them with white-glove service throughout their participation in the program.

You’ll need to handle ambiguity and even thrive on it. Our team regularly handles rogue projects - things that don’t have good fit elsewhere in the organization. This means that what you’re doing this month isn’t the same as what you’ll be doing two months from now. The tasks in this job description might even be obsolete before your start date.

You’ll develop processes and procedures for the team’s activities. Planning a recurring event? Let’s get a detailed project plan that we can work backward from the event date. Someone on the team is putting together a pilot program? You’ll step in and document what worked, what didn’t, and how to repeat the successes the next time around.

Remote workers are OK and encouraged. You’ll need to be in North America for time zone and logistics reasons.

  • Some formal project management experience

  • Head nodding in violent agreement with the job description above

  • Ability to work in a distributed team. We’re scattered all over the world, so you won’t be sitting next to your teammates.

  • Ability to travel. While travel isn’t strictly required, it can sometimes be helpful for you to attend the events you’re organizing.

  • Project management certification or formal training
