Agilent Technologies’ Life Sciences and Applied Markets Group(LSAG) is a leading provider of analytical and chemical instrument systems to pharmaceutical, environmental, research, and other technology companies.

Your role will be part of the software test team helping to evaluate our market leading MassHunter Data Analysis Software Products for GC and LC mass spectrometers. You will work side by side with the R&D; SW development team and you will be part of a group of chemists, biologists and other scientists who define and execute the test process for software releases.

Location - Santa Clara, CA, will consider other US-based locations for the right person

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated problem-solver with the ability to deliver results quickly while building your expertise. Here is what you will be measured on:

  • Collaborating with software R&D; and test engineers to determine the best ways to test their software products

  • Implementing an automated software test framework for an application using an existing implementation as a template

  • Writing automated tests within this framework and maintaining/enhancing as needed to produce valid results, in partnership with R&D; and manual testers

  • Learning new technologies and tools as needed to solve test challenges

  • Managing test environments, both at the virtual machine, OS and application level

  • Monitoring daily test results, investigating failures and submitting defects as necessary to R&D;

  • Working in an agile development environment testing iteratively against newly developed code until quality is achieved from an end customer's perspective

  • Design, document, develop and execute automation test scripts

  • Support, maintain and enhance existing automation test scripts

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors or higher degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience with typically 4 years

  • Experience in automated software testing, using UI automation and scripting tools such as Test Complete and Python

  • Experience using Jenkins to schedule and manage test runs and results

  • Experience using VMWare (including vSphere) to set up and maintain virtual Windows test environments

  • Familiarity with Jira for managing defects and tasks

  • Familiarity with Visual Studio/.NET/C# software development tools and ability to do test-related coding

  • Knowledge of software test principles and practices

  • Interest in improving software quality in large commercial applications

  • Demonstration of excellent oral and written communication, including presentations and documentation using Microsoft Office and collaboration tools such as WebEx

  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, with both local and remote colleagues

Preferred:

  • Experience in other compiled or scripted programming languages

  • Experience using GC/MS and LC/MS analytical instrument data acquisition and analysis software

  • Understanding of software development lifecycle
