As a Solutions/Pre-Sales Architect, you are a member of our elite architecture team charged with being at the forefront of advising mission critical Enterprise-based solutions and accelerating Enterprise adoption of DSE. You have specialized, deep technical skills and thrive on solving customer challenges in partnership with our SEs. You enjoy coaching brilliant minds and are a curious learner. You are an expert trusted advisor to our customers as they design, build and operate new technologies that leverage the unique strengths of Client's Database software. As a member of the team, you work across the pre-sales organization, prototyping and innovating, as well as establishing best practices.
Essential Job Functions:**
Work with Solution Engineers and Customers to design centric software/systems solutions.
Tailor reference architectures to provide performant, resilient, scalable, secure, distributed architectures which can exceed SLAs and are easily maintained.
Design and test data models which are pragmatic, performant, and scalable.
Show the customer how to write robust and scalable data access code that correctly utilizes drivers.
Help the customer select on-premise hardware or cloud instance types based on workload and capacity assessments.
Help the customer deploy, configure, secure, maintain, monitor, scale, troubleshoot, test and tune Database Enterprise clusters.
In response to customer questions, provide ad hoc instruction that is shaped by the customer’s specific environment, requirements and constraints.
Highlight when the customer will benefit from a services or license purchase / expansion.
Collaborate with others in Pre-Sales, Professional Services, Technical Support, Enablement, Sales, Product Marketing, Product Management, etc. to ensure our customer is successful and our product features support our customers’ use cases.

As part of your normal activities, you may:
Participate in prospect/customer solutioning calls and provide guidance on actionable paths forward
Work with SEs on technical workshop creation and delivery to proof out DSE capabilities to a prospect/customer’s specific use case
Document product feedback based on field experience and collaborate with product managers
Create intellectual capital in the form of blog posts, technical whitepapers, reusable code examples
Develop, document, and share tools, techniques or best practices which can be used by customers or others.
Be a mentor to customers or other technical roles.
Assist other departments with their goals and participate in their processes in order to advance company-wide initiatives and build internal relationships.
Participate in the Client customer community and attend meetups or events to build relationships and cultivate an understanding of community needs in less formal settings.
You have at least intermediate-level competency with:
RDBMSs and one or more NoSQL databases
One or more programming languages and paradigms, e.g. Procedural & Functional paradigms
•Cloud IaaS, PaaS, SaaS
Application and system performance tuning
Network infrastructure & IP networking, server hardware, virtualization, containerization
Security considerations for: physical environment, network, server, operating system, database, application, public & private cloud
Web application servers
You have expert-level competency with:
Common enterprise architecture patterns
Distributed application & data processing architectures
Linux CLI & Linux System Administration skills
Technical communication skills
Hands-on experience programming for, and operating, DataStax Enterprise or Apache Cassandra in a production environment. (5+ years)
Hands-on experience with other DataStax Enterprise components to include DSE Analytics / Spark, DSE Search / Solr, DSE Graph (2+ years)
10+ years in hands-on technical roles; ideally blended across architecture, development and operations.
One or more technology, domain or vertical specializations which could be valuable to some customers.
5+ years in a customer facing role in consulting, pre-sales or similar function
Deep skills in active listening.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English – and like using those skills.
